Removing the Resonator?
I just did this this weekend, so let me try to help you out.
Basically, the resonator routes the air coming into the stock airtake so it's quieter. It you add a Short Ram Intake, you don't need it. If you add a Cold Air intake, you HAVE to remove it so ithe new intake will fit.
It's a big white box that sits behind the passenger side headlights. You can get to it by taking of the bumper, but an easier way is to remove the passenger side tire and unscrew then peel back the plastic wheel well cover. There are 2 10mm bolts that hold it in (and a third on one of the 2 pipes that lead from it), undo them, give it a little tug and some shimmy-shammy, and you'll be able to wiggle it out.

which resonator are you referring to? theres the one mentioned in the previous post and theres also an exhaust resonator which i believe is the one you are thinking of. removing the exhaust resonator is a very bad idea (its located behind the cat somewhere (not exactly sure where). when you buy an aftermarket catback, it comes with a resonator, in other words, you need it, if you take it out you car will sound like shit. it will be really loud and obnoxious, you will probablly get pulled over, and it will sound more ricey than anything else. please dont add to the rice population and remove your exhaust resonator!!!
I put an Apex'I N1 muffler and removed the Resonator & put a straight pipe in it's place and it doesn't sound like shit. I've never been pulled over for it being too loud, it doesn't sound too ricey. I like it...but I like loud exhausts. If you don't want it loud, keep your resonator on there.
the exhaust resonator is welded to the b-pipe which connects to the cat. the intake resonator is a white box that since behind your passenger side headlight as said before. however, removing the front bumper is a total waste of time. all you ahve to do is remove the passenger front wheel, pull out half of the fender well lining, unbolt 2 10mm bolts and wiggle it out.
taking out the resonator will free up a little power sicne the resonator reroutes the air to negate the noise of sucking it in. once you take it out, your engine is louder (similar to having jsut an SRI in). it's not a bad sound at all since to me it sounds like an intake. at least it's better than the weird buzzing or lawnmower sound from a messedup exhaust.
edit: it's not nearly as loud as a straight-through exhaust. and it doesnt become loud until you stomp on the throttle which opens the throttle body which sucks in more air. if you dont want to be obnoxious, dont push the pedal too far down.
