*TESTING WATERS* (1994 Civic Si in SoCal)
Hey guys,
I'm ONLY testing waters with my car for right now. I wanted to see what offers I get to further decide what I will do with the car. Just to let you know, it does have a salvage title. And it's being sold "as-is". Well, at least after I had it repaired. Here's what happened:
I was already established on the carpool lane going about 30-35 mph when a gardener dood decided not to look and cross through the solid line with his F-150, merging into my car. To deter from further damage, I had to swerve slightly off the pavement, going over a couple bushes. The front-left corner of his chrome bumper carved a straight more-than pinstripe line across the passenger-side door to quarter panel about 5 inches above the side-moldings. His insurance co already claimed liability and were already about to repair the car until his insurance claim rep' called me up last minute telling me they had to claim my car as salvaged. She told me that due to the black bumpers and the black hood (carbon fiber) that I had on the car at the time of the accident/claim, it greatly reduced the value of the car thus barely making the cost of repairs more than the FMV (fair market value) of the vehicle. I told her it was BS! It was even more BS the way they researched the value of my car as they were supposed to compare to three (3) Si's similar to mine that were recently sold. They compared it to two (2) 94 Civic DX coupes and one (1) 94 Civic Si which in the picture, it was obviously a DX hatch. They were the cheapest one's in the world. I settled somewhat quick because it was taking months and I was tired of her. (Progressive car insurance, if you wanted to know)
Anyway, with the money I got from settlement, I used towards repairing the car. I replaced the door myself with another white door. It already looked so much better. The rear-quarter panel didn't look bad at all, but I did have it repaired. They actually did a good job. I'm surprised.

*UPDATE*
Okay, I have somebody I'm currently dealing with right now. They offered $5900 for the entire car with the B16A. I asked them if they would consider buying the body alone without any motor for $3900. They refused. They really want the motor too. I told this same issue with this other potential buyer. He offered $3500 for the body without any motor. This third party in line offered the price of $3700 for the body without any motor. I told these other two guys that I would follow-up with them if the deal fails. Currently, the first party and I are figuring shipping/towing costs/dates for the car to be shipped to their location. But right now, I'm really thinking twice and I really want to keep my motor. We'll just have to see...
