Default DIY air intake, Icebox style

I've been considering this DIY Icebox install on my Integra. Right now I have an Injen short ram installed with the factory airbox and resonator. Do you think it would be worth the time and effort? I mean would there be any noticeable gains. I'm somewhat concerned that if I remove the factory resonator, there will be alot more intake noise. Right now it's pretty quiet and not that noticeable.

Here is the DIY write up and some pictures. Let me know what you think.

no intake is gonna give you much extra power unless you're talking about one fed by a turbo.... but the DIY icebox will probably help as much as any intake so do it up, save yourself some dough and look stock

The Injen intake I have looks to bling and absorbs heat. I probably should just put my rubber stock intake arm back on. If anyone has pics of a stock air intake with a K&N post it up. I tried to use the Injen filter on the stock air intake and it didn't work out that well. It sort of fits but doesn't reach the stock airbox like I want it to.

Ahh Bret (that's his page). That is one resourceful guy, easy to talk to as well!

If you're worried about noise, then perhaps you shouldn't be doing this. It will be quieter than open element intakes, but louder than stock.

I made my own a couple of years ago what I did was break the stock resonator box and took out the piping, cut and taped it to fit just like the above picture. I have an Akimoto intake and it fits snug in my factory air box, but I chose to leave the top off but air is still coming from the bottom.

Someday soon I'll be getting my hands on an airbox from an NSX. One, it's larger. Two, it works by creating a low-pressure pocket inside to allow more air into the filter (or something like that). I read that it's very efficient.

:eek3:

If it's off an NSX I would imagine it being quite expensive.

Does this interfere with the placement of the turn signal? It almost looks like it would.
