Default What do you clean your car with?

i was at a local auto parts store the other day and there were so many cleaning products to choose from. i know megular is one of the best product to choose when cleaning a car but aside from that i basically want ONE product that can clean the body and coat it with some sort of protecting formula to keep the paint from fading under the sun and dust.

recommendations anyone? any comments welcome

If you really want great results, you have to use products for each purpose in detailing the car. At a minimum, this means three products: one to wash the car of surface dirt and grime, a second one to remove oxidation and road tar and other problems, and a third one as a protective coat. There is no one-step product that is going to do all three of these things and do them well.

meguiars i think is the best but ive never tried any others. I use meguiars gold class wax and soap and it does a remarkable job. But some friends of minw with an S2k use mothers. Ive also heard that turtle wax is very good.

I use Meguiar's Gold Class car wash to wash the car, Zymol HD-Cleanse to remove oxidation, tire marks, etc, and Zymol Japon wax to protect the finish. Also Zymol Vinyl on the dash and interior. Great stuff.

I like Kit Carnauba for a wash. Or NXT Wash (I don't like NXT wax, however).

And while I know zymol makes great products--you can get the same results for cheaper and more durable.

I'd go with Wolfgang pre-cleaner and Wolfgang sealant. (autogeek.net) or Vanilla Moose hand glaze (cleans and fills in) and Meguiars #16 (what I have found to be the most durable thing Meguiars sells--don't be fooled by it's old school packaging, it really will bead for 3 months+).
