04 Civic Hybrid amp
Hi there. I just purchases an '04 Civic Hybrid, having had a '97 civic ex for 3 years (i loved this car... and now my wife gets it, trading in her '95 civic for the hybrid).
I want to put a new stereo and amp in the civic hybrid. what are the issues that I need to know about? what additional parts will i need to get the stereo into the dash?
specifically with the amp - it's an old Infinity 5 channel amp, 30wx4channels and 100w for the sub channel. I am not planning on running this amp to it's max capacity - i simply want higher quality sound and some low end with a sub.
Will installing this amp in my civic hybrid decrease gas mileage? if so, how much will it go down? what are the gotchas that i need to watch out for when installing the amp in this car? or do i just do it like a normal car - power source from the standard car battery?
FYI - here's my amp: http://www.cardomain.com/item/ALPMRVF357 . I also plan on having the factory keyless entry removed and am going to get a full alarm / keyless entry like my '97 has.
thanks.

my buddy has a civic hybrid and hes actually running a 1500 watt amp powering a JL W7 sub. All i can say is he gets better gas mileage than me still and im in a 01 accord sedan which gets decent gas milage as it is. He actually refills every 4-5 days and he drives A LOT. So if it infact does decrease gas mileage, it is so minimal. I wouldnt worry about it, and if your as addicted to music as we are its worth the couple of mpg decrease. Hope this helps some
I appreciate the info.
All of the pro install shops that i've talked to around Dallas have said the same thing, so I'm not terribly worried about it anymore.
I am as addicted to music as anyone else.... I don't really care i it drops a mile or two... but my wife was pretty pissed off when she heard that it might affect it. She alsmost wouldn't let me get the car. But I drive 1,000 miles a week in this car and need as much mileage as possible. If I don't have something playing every miles, though, I go nuts. I've even got my minidisc player with me most of the time, for when I'm not in the car.
