Default What are the exact steps in removing superglued emblems?

I'm gonna swap out my stock "A" with a white one, but the old emblem was super glued on. What should I do to make this an easy process without damaging the paint. If I have to damage the paint, whats the best way to restore it (my color is R81)?

strong fishing line works the best and will not damage paint. grab both ends of the fishing line and move it in a up and down motion from one side of the emblem to the next. (edit) - and then some goo gone or something to get the excess left behind.

Can you please be more specific on what to use to get rid of the excess? I don't think Goo Gone works on super glue.

You will have to use acetone/nail polish remover to soften cyanoarylate(super) glue. This will almost certainly jack up your pain. Try it on the inside of the trunk or something to see what it does. Maybe put cotton balls around emblem and put acetone on them, then the fishing line. Unless it really looks like ass, I would leave it alone

if you're worried about damaging the paint:
use a hair dryer or heat gun to heat up the adhesive
run fishing line through to peel off emblem, or by hand
rub out remaining adhesive (i used bug and tar)
after using bug and tar a lot of people use either wax or sealant to protect the paint
(i used klasse sealant topped with p21s wax)

you superglued your emblem on? never tried it but worth a shot, i would start with the most mild form of adhesive remover and move up from there...
