Default b18a VS b18b Question

I just picked up a project car, a 1994 Integra 4 door Automatic that is in need of a head gasket. Im not wanting to make this a racer, just a nice daily driver. (im gonna pass it on to my lil sister once its done so that she can learn how to drive).

Okay Well I got a b18a head and block sitting in my back yard (for parts). My question is can i directly bolt on the b18a head to the b18b block? (I will send the head to the machine shop for rebuilding) the Intake manifold and exhaust manifold looks a little different on the two.

I tried the search, and found that the design's are slightly different, but wasnt able to get a definate answer. Also will i loose alot of power? (can u feel 10 hp?)

thanks in advance
Danny

Yes, the actual heads are identical except for slight differences in cam profiles. If you use the cams from your B18B head and the intake/exhaust manifolds from the B18B, you will loose NO power.

briefly diverting from the topic, i too want to give my sister an Integra. I think once i'm done with school, she can have my GSR instead of her hideous Mirage.

cool for you

You're a great guy then, I wish I had that kind of older 'bro. :goodjob:

That reminds me of a time... (quick story, don't worry)

I took my last RX-7 to a dyno meet about a year and a half ago. I put down 96 RWHP because of some (Rotary) engine issues. We all laughed and had a good time.

Well, this guy pulls his Mirage up on the dyno. It has a full EVO IV body conversion done to it, so natually it looks like a 300hp car.

He put down 76 wheel horsepower, with the stereo blasting. :lmfao:

Thank you, that is all.

Yeah, b18a profiles are a little less agressive than the b18b's...I dont think that its very much of a differnce though...

In the most basic sense, no. We're talking about two peak horsepower here, you'll never notice the difference and it is so small it won't impact accelleration.
