I don't really know anything about cars, so I was wondering if I could get the opinions from people who actually do.

I'm simply interested in adding more power to my car, and was wondering of good ways to get started. I don't want it to sound like a rice rocket either.... what brands and parts should I get started with? Thanks for your help everyone.

 

Get an injen short ram air intake. It will give you a bit more horse power and torque and sounds real nice. The sound from the motor is just deeper and louder. You can go with exhaust but if you aren't wanting to go all out then it is more money than it is worth.

 

I don't own a RSX but any forced induction system (superchargers & turbochargers) will substantial increase the amount of power. They work by shoving and pressuring air into the motor (opposed to just letting air being naturally flow/sucked in). Here's how it kinda goes (from less air to more air).

* Stock Intake: Air naturally flows in
* Aftermarket Bigger Intake (like the Injen the guy above me mentioned): More air naturally flows in
* Forced Induction: Air is pressurized and forced in.

The supercharger runs off a belt off the crankshaft; the turbocharger is spun up off your exhaust gases. There are pros and cons for both of them but it's kinda out of the scope of this post.

You may run into reliability issues when installing a forced induction system on a naturally aspirated motor, basically they weren't designed to take that much pressure. If you boost high, you probably will need new forged pistons, gaskets, cylinder heads, etc... Oh, and a supercharger or turbocharger runs at least a few grand. I know Jackson Racing makes a supercharger for the RSX. I know there are turbochargers for RSX but I forgot who makes it (maybe Greddy?).

And for the record, I'm simply tackling this on a theoretical sense. Feel free to correct me if I got something wrong. You should ask someone who has actually installed a turbo or blower for a RSX for more info on it. But yeah, superchargers and turbochargers are the way to go if you want a lot lot more power. A stock RSX Type-S has 200hp, I think. After running a low boost forced induction system, you should start at least 250 and go up as far as you want (until you blow your engine).

 

how much are you looking to spend? best thing to start with are the basic bolt ons...intake, header and exhaust. then purchase hondata #4 and you'd look like this ---> all the time.

Yeah, basic bolt-ons will add probably about 20-25hp to the wheels for ya. Injen CAI, header(whichever company you choose) and cat back exhaust is cool for now. But just for these basic bolt ons, your probably lookin at close to 1000 or maybe more?

 

you should get a AEM intake. when importtuner did the intake shoot out it made 20+ hp over stock. thats nice just from an intake. i guess the k series respond good to mods.

 

Yeah the K series does respond great to mods. I would go with a cold air induction, then hondata reflash then exhaust, I've been reading up a lot about the RSXs over at clubrsx.com. Thinkin about getting one

 

I actually have a brand new aem v2 intake for sale, im selling because i was sent an RSX intake instead of an Accord V6 intake. I let it go for 230 shipped let me know.
