Audio Expert, please help me troubleshoot!
Here is the problem first I will list all of my equipment and how it is wired, then the description of the problem hopefully someone can give me the solution.
96 Honda Accord 4 door sedan
Alpine CDA - 7995 Head Unit
Rockford Fosgate 501x 4 channel
Rockford Fosgate punch 500a II
Rockford Fosgate 1 Farad Cap
Power wire -
I have 4 gauge power wire that runs from the battery to the cap (fused with a 100A fuse), 4 gauge from the cap to a fused distribution block (2 50A fuses), then two 8 gauge power leads from the distribution block to each amp. T
Ground wire -
Two 8 gauge ground wires from each amp to the cap, and then a 4 gauge lead from the cap that is grounded to a screw in the floor of the trunk near the spare tire.
Remote lead -
The remote lead runs from the rear of the head unit to the trunk and is a single wire until it reaches the amps. The wire then is simply soldered together to create two wires from one and the leads go to each amp.
The problem -
When the car is started and the head unit is turned on, the LED lights on both amps illuminate but very shortly after (approx 5 seconds) they begin to dim and then go out completely. Why am I losing power? To the best of my knowledge, everything is installed properly and the installation is very clean, I have done installs before but this is my first multiple amp installation. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks

this is interesting...
I am not sure what you have tried, but do this, it may or may not help you out.
Try removing the cap. A cap discharges right... lets say that your cap is fully charged when you initially start the car and power goes to it, but something inside it maybe (?) is malfunctioning and power somehow gets cut... the cap slowly loses its power and bam there is your LED's dying...
no idea other than that. its 5a here and way past my bedtime
good luck though, tell us what happens if you remove the cap.

no loose connections anywhere and i havent even hooked up and speaker wire i am simply trying to get the amps to turn on and stay on at this point.
i am going to try and ground the amps and caps separately.
and also check to see if the cap is bad.
ill let you all know

only thing i can think of is maybe the remote wire isnt connected correctly or perhaps came loose. easy way to check is with a light tester.. another way is get a short wire.. tap the pos+ and the remote together. that should turn on your amp. If your amp doesnt turn on then its either your ground or Pos. connections. if it does its the remote connection
I dont think it is the remote wire because as far as i know, without a remote lead the amps will not even turn on at all. the amps do turn on but then slowly lose power almost as if the battery dies, i know the battery does not die simply because every other electrical part of my car continues to run.
