Default When brakes applied @ stop, pedal looses firmness

This is a 1995 integra, auto. Whenever at a stop, the brake pedal looses its firmness. The pedal keeps going down, very slowly, until it bottoms out. Normal driving and braking feels fine, pedal doesn't feel squishy. I hope its not the master cylinder. Any advice?

Thx.

I second this. Air in the line would make it squishy but probably wouldn't make it go all the way to the floor. Leaky master cylinder would though!

I hate to even ask, how much do master cylinders go for? I'm guessing its not a project to take on by myself.

i replaced my master cylinder with a remanufactured OEM nissin MC
may not be the same in your area but in NC carquest auto parts sells the re-man. nissin master cylinders. Mine was 125$ but of course its a perfect fit
I've had my remanufacurred one for a year no no problems
I expect it to last for quite a while
Its not too difficult to do yourself but you have to do it right
if you have a repair manual you should be able to pull it off in say 3 hours and youll only pay for the cylinder and the brake fluid

I also agree it's the MC, mine was doing the exact same thing. I got a reman one from AutoZone, it was exactly like the OEM one too. I don't remember it costing that much, but you can check online at www.autozone.com

anything to watch out for in doing the replacement?
how tough is it for a reasonably skilled backyard mechanic?
