Default whiteish fog in carbon fiber hood

i have a VIS hood, and i KNOW it is not the best hood out there, but it is also not the worse... it fits ok and i am fairly happy with it BUT, lately i have noticed very light yucky fog here and there in the hoods gel coat... i never got it clear coated, but yeah.. i assume it is some discoloration due to the extreme heat.. if you guys have no DIY answers i will suck it up and take it to a body shop, but i figure some of you MUST have c/f hoods, and some of you MUST have had this problem or at least seen this problem.... any advice on how to get it out...

please don't post gay sit like "you could paint it to match the color of your car, or c/f is ugly..." just answer the question if you can please...

thank you

i think this is normal

my guess is the gel coat would have to be stripped and re applied, its not made for the heat so good. you could try buffing it, but i doubt that will do ****.

It could be oxidation. Like fuji said, the gel needs to be stripped and re-coated. I'd get it clear coated vs re-gel coating it

i think the materials alone for clear coat should run between $25-50, i would pay probably $75-125 for a decent coat of clear over my hood.

The gel coat is part of the carbon fiber in a way now, stripping it would proly destroy it, and sanding it would make it a lot worse, i think, im not really sure he has a lot of options at this point.

do you guys think some of that heat shield type stuff on the underside would help? not that I'm very fond of that mirror looking stuff but I have a hood on the way (hopefully in good condition) and I'd like to keep it as mint as possible.

i just got off the phone with VIS and the second i said "since it has been hot out...." he cut me off and said.. you noticed a white foggy haze in it.. and i was like yeah.. and he goes.. it happend to my hood also.. and i go ok well what do i do.. and he said he very lightly wet sanded it then hit it with rubbing compound then a good wax and now it is fine.. he said he has had this happen to quite a few people this year with the heat the way its been??? so i dunno i got a friend that used to do body work and i guess it is worth a shot??? i can always paint it to match the car if it gets real bad?? **sigh**
