Default Power Steering Fluid

So my power steering has gotten quite sticky lately, and I think it's time to flush and replace the fluid. So I whip out my Helm's, and in big letters it says "Use only Genuine Honda Power Steering Fluid -V. Using other fluids such as ATF or other manufacturer's power steering fluid will damage the system."

I was hoping I could just make a run to Autozone tomorrow. Do I need honda fluid, or will I be safe picking up something else?

Usually auto parts stores will have regular fluid, and fluid that says "for use in Honda/Acura power steering systems." You want the latter.

How much does a p/s system hold, how much fluid do you need to buy to flush it?

My Helm's says system capacity is 1.12 US qts. (1.06 l), with a reservoir capacity of 0.83 qts (0.79 l)

I know this topic is quite old, but I still wanna ask if the genuine Honda brand fluids is required for refilling 'cause I found the fluid of my car stay just above the lower level and I wanna add more. I was told by a lot guys that the genuine Honda brand fluid is the choice. The thing is there is no dealer around my place, I can find advanceautoparts though!

Thanks guys!

Most autoparts stores will have fluid formulated for Honda racks. That is what I use instead of Genuine Honda fluid and it works fine. Just don't use ATF fluid.
