Okay here is the thing....my exhuast setup is... JDM ITR 4-1 Header, Test Pipe, Tanabe Racing Medallion Cat-Back. I got pulled over because my exhuast is too loud (even though i live in a SMALL city where there is redneck trucks that are louder than loud all over). What I was considering doing is Buying just a Apexi WS axleback and fitting it to my b pipe OR buying a T1R testpipe OR just putting a small resonator on my exhuast (i was leaning more towards this, cause its less cost effective)

So here is the question... I have a small resonator (around 12'') and if i was to put it on, would i wanna put it on where the test pipe is (right after the header) or would I wanna put it at the end of the b-pipe (like the stock ITR exhuast)???? any info you could give would be lots of help, thanks

 

if i'm remembering right, the stock oem itr exhaust system has the 17" cat converter, and two (2) resonators in the b-pipe, and finally a low restriction, yet quiet muffler.

with your setup, you are basically running no cat and - from what i gather - no resonator in your b-pipe.

sounds like the test pipe is the main culpit. i am running a spoon system (full) with a jdm itr cat. a friend is running something very similar but with a spoon cat-jack (basically a test-pipe) and his car is MUCH louder than mine; complete with the gurggles and farts. :P

if you don't run a cat, then perhaps adding a resonator will help - but probably not much.

oh yeah, my Tanabe Racing Medallion does have a resonator a little bit after the test pipe, the ITR exhuast has a little resonator at the end of the b-pipe right were the axleback bolts up.....ahh...i dunno what to do haha

 

if you put a catalytic converter on, it will be much quieter. on top of that, you'll be helping to keep the air "clean".

if you don't want to sacrifice power, you can also got a higher flowing catalytic converter such as carsound.

Type 1 Racing has one as well for the JDM ITR fit. It's basically a huge resonator, as all of the catalyst is on the outside of exhaust stream. I'd suggest maybe switching to a quieter exhaust, or paying the ticket and trying to stay out of the throttle while in town.

 

Just put the damn silencer in the TRM...that quiets it down well below legal limits (and drops 6hp on my kaa).

As others have suggested, I would say either replace the testpipe with a high flow cat, install the silencer or both. Either of those options will help to quiet your car; do both and you'll get an even better result. :goodjob:

 

you can either buy a high flow catalytic converter as people have already mentioned, but you can also use a resonated testpipe.

 

My setup is dc jdm 4-1, Random tech high flow cat and apexi n1 cat back with silencer. My advice to you would be get a high flow cat, and it doesn't matter what you get for exaust, if its not silenced its loud especially with 2.5 inch od on itr. my car pulls harder now than i expected just with that basic setup. mugen, comptech are quiet and effective but will u spend a $G for it,I wouldn't.

 

Get yourself a turbo, it seemed to quiet my apex n1 down quite a bit
