reinacting a video game almost results in disaster...
to make a long story short I decided to take a 90 degree turn at the busiest intersection in town today going between 45-50.
Now I've gotten my tires squealing before but since the wheel upgrade I haven't made em urk. So taking after my japanese brotheron I decide to set up a drift in the middle of town. Usually my tires chirp all the way through the turn but still hold, this time they chirped for half a second then I entered an insane fish tail. I never new a front wheel drive car could get away like that.
The car turned about 80 degrees to the left of where I was meaning to go. slid for a good second. being the now modest driver I admit to be, I over corrected and when I caught traction again immediately went sliding the other way. this time I caught traction after going back 60 degrees from the opposite drift.
checked the rear view for Johnny Law and continued down the original planned road at this time going about 25.
The thing is any other day there would have been people filling the 3 lanes of traffic my havoc went across (twice) and atleast 1 cop. Luckily no one was in the way, and everyone around seemed to enjoy the show cause no one called me in.
I promise to never try to drift in public again and I promise to never push my car to its limits on the streets again.
Damn I feel like the biggest no driven hoe.
^DO NOT PUT IN SIG :fawk:

damn i bet you shaited in your pants huh? when i did that i couldnt believe what had happened...the back of my car can get out so easy....i have a scratch on my front bumper on where i "skimmed" a palm tree when i drifted unintensionally.
no sheet man. I wish I had a camera on the dash so I could see my face.
losing control of the vehicle can be fun, but not when your not fully prepared. another lucky thing was a huge curb I almost smacked twice. if the speed stars had gone down I may have sold the hatch for an ef

better than me. Last summer was all about drifting for me. I'd go out for an hour just to burn up tires and drift. Then I sold my wheels and was on stock steelies... Had one rip off on a crack in the road and I landed in the ditch with my car on it's side, the front in the air about 4-5 feet, then grinding to a stop. Going 75 backwards into the ditch makes you change your driving habits. Haven't drifted since... Anyway, I know how you feel.
i'd rag on you but i've done my half of stupid ****...
but i've learned from them. hope you did to.
some jack ass was street racing and almost hit my moms 98 accord.
don't get me wrong i'm all about street racing, but i'm not down with the street racing where you go down the road at 100 mph dead into traffic...
leave the regular folks alone.

your story is okay, i had many occurence like that. did a complete 180 trying to follow my friend through twisties, 180 doing handbrake in the rain with people coming from the light lucky it was red, almost hit a tree while drifting on gravel, i admit i do some dumb things. but i guess i'm lucky and i watch for people when i do such dumb things.
trying to drift is

Whenever you feel the back end loosing traction the hardest thing to do is get on the gas, which is the right thing to do. My car is set up pretty neutral - it will plow if I brake too hard and turn, and it will rotate when I brake hard then turn. It's a hard habit to break but when I feel the back end coming around I add more gas to get the weight to the rear to stop from sliding.

pretty much, if you throttle up an ff car it will 9x out of 10 pull itself out. I like to think of my car as a wheelbarrow...completely ignoring the back half. you can drive without worrying about it than you can drive this car decent. I've drifted at about 45-55 before, the faster you go, really, the more beautiful the turn...but im uncomfortable doing it now on public roads as people have been calling 911 on me lately for "crossing my eyes as i pass them" or other such nonsense.
Ill bet youll stick up for me next time someone claims you cant drift in an ff car
