Well, my tires are bald on my daily drivers =\ I did a search and Trey recommended getting tires in 205/50/15 size. I've decided to go with the Yokohama AVS ES100's but why not the stock tire size (195/55/15) or a lower profile version (195/50/15)? Any opinions on recommended size?

Bear in mind that I have a seperate set of rims for racing (wrapped w/ 205/50/15 Falken Azenis) and that I live in DFW, TX, where the most inclement weather we get is rain every once in awhile.

Matter of taste, preference and price.

Some people would say there's no point in going w/a 195-55-15 when the 205-50-15 is more rubber on the road, and the same price or cheaper.

Some people would say there's no point in going w/a 195-50-15 because it's a lower load rating and (perhaps, some would say) not quite as safe and up to high performance driving.

All personal preference.

Personally, I'd go with 205-50-15.

I have a set of Potenza RE730's, in 205-55-15 for my everyday driving. They're great for daily use, handle rain fairly well, and are a pretty good performance tire. I got the larger size only because I felt the stock R looked a little under-tired, and the slightly larger size seems to help the look a bit, tho I honestly don't know how much a visual difference they really do make.

I use 205/50/15 Azenis and 205/50/15 Dunslop SP9000's for my Daily tires. I use 205/50/15 Azenis for my Auto-X/Track tires as well.

Nuts, you people are making me spend more money on those wider tires :P I'll take you guys' suggestion and get the 205's unless money gets a little tighter for me, in which case i'll just be sticking with stock 195/55/15 tires size.

Nothing wrong with the stock tire size Kabob - it was good enough for Honda!

You know about the minor controversy surrounding the 205 010's, right?

Are you thinking of Azenis, or something else?

Don't know about that controversy but the stock RE010s are too expensive for a daily drive tire, anyways so I was thinking more along the lines of something with better performance to dollar value like the Yokohama AVS ES100

I believe the controversy with the 205/50-15 RE010s is that the are built as front tires for the NSX, and have a seperate bias depending on L/R sides.

Just checked TireRack, the Yoko ES100 is 195/55-15 is only $57 ea vs the RE010 @ $123 ea. I'd say the Yoko is a lot more bang for the buck!

205/50-15 in ES100 is $72 for comparison.

195/55 for a daily drive is still a decent option if the money difference is that significant. I like the wide footprint and stiffer sidewall.

Yoko ES100 is supposed to be a really nice tire.
