Here is a great lightweight battery option for you guys. I run this in my car and have for the last year with no problems. This is almost $100 less than the performance name brand batteries. It is seals and a high quality marine specialty battery. Weights 13.2 lbs which is about 15 lbs less than the stock battery.

Trey, do you use this all year long w/out any trouble?

I'll answer for Trey since I asked him the exact same thing when I saw it at a dyno day. He said that it had been fine, though a bit slow to crank in the winter, it had never not started the car. (Trey feel free to correct if Im wrong.)

I will prob get one when my stock battery takes the dirtnap. Keep in mind however you will likely have to rig something with your battery holder to keep the (much) smaller battery in.

How hard was it to mount securely in the OEM battery box, and how did you guys do it?

 

It was easy to mount. Did NOT use factor battery posts but you can get some adapters that will use them that add on.

There are actually some good options out there

Hawker G13EP (Low power only 10.8 lbs and still cheap).
Odyssey PC625 (There is a lighter lower power version) 13.2 lbs
Hawker G16EP (More power than the PC625 one pound heavier).
