Brakes at the Expo
Ok, I have pretty fresh stock brakes right now, but I'm wondering if for the Expo and later a FATT at Summit Point, and then later some autoxing in the summer, will I need some better pads, or will my pads last that long? I'm immediately thinking no and to get some Axxis Ultimates or something, and remembering the fade on my golf last year, and then the brakes catching fire...

A friend of mine just tore up a set of Ultimates on Little Talladega a couple weeks ago. They aren't really a track pad, but they are a great street/autox pad. I'd suggest you get a more track oriented pad (Hawk HP+, etc.) and swap them out for track days. Give Andie @ Cobalt ( www.cobaltfriction.com) a call. He'll be glad to recommend a pad for the type of events you're planning to do ... and he's also an Expo sponsor.

He needs to put a few miles on them but he isn't even hard enough on his car to damage brake pads. I would suggest we show Andie and get some input.
Regardless SUPPORT THE EXPO SPONSORS. Please contact Cobalt for input and tell them Trey sent you and you are going to the Expo!!

Ok I just got my oder of Axxis Ultimates for the front and rear for the Expo from Andie at Cobaltfriction and so far they feel much more positive then stocks.
If you are really hard on the stock pads when your on a track you WILL burn them up. I did, and needed to replace them asap. (and that was my first event)
Also if your up-grading your brakes then also get the ATE blue fluid for the brake system, min chance of boiling the fluid or having fade due to the fluid cooking.
