I think I'm about to throw in 3 JL W3 10s in my car. Anyone with this setup? How much wattage should I need to push em pretty hard?

Available Configurations: Dual 2 ohm, Dual 4 ohm or Dual 6 ohm


I personally wouldn't do a triple sub setup only because there's a lot of risk factors. you can just imagine the possibilities. BUT if i was going to, i'd invest in a strong JL Audio or a good class D amp. Nonetheless...i'd stick to two

 

i didnt know w3 came in dual 6 OHM. :dunno: oh well...

what are the risk factors for wiring 3 subs together? the only problem, if you can even call it that, is the wierd impedance and finding an amp to power it effieciently(sp). but since they come in dual 6, that shouldnt be a problem.

give each 10w3 200-300 watts....=D

I do have 3 10" JL w3's still sitting in my room because i'm saving money for a custom mad box. I'm thinking of a triangle set up andgoing to use the spare tire well for the box. I do have phoenix gold ZX600ti will push the subs and ZX475 which will push the component speakers. If you're going to do that set up then make sure that you're not going to get those cheapy amps that are not capable of handling multiple subs. Alpine, Rockford Fosgate, Phoenix Gold, and Kicker are some of the companies that make s that kind of amps.

 

how would an amp know if it is handling multiple subs?

 

get 3 12 w6's. my friend ran them with rf 1100a2 and hit 147.9

 

Check with the manual or go to their website. Not all amps can handle multiple subs especially the DVC's. The last thing you want to happen to your subs is fry it because you overload it.

 

you can always amp multiples subs with an amp... its just the impedance you have to have them agree on.

 

an amp wouldnt know if there was 1000 subs hooked up to it, if say the final inpedance is 4OHM.

i think you mean most amps can handle low inpedance loads such as 1OHM.
