Default putting GSR trans into LS

I have done a few trans changes on my integra, but now i am thinking of a GS-R transmission to go in it since the ls tranny i paid 700 bucks for is total crap.

My clutch is currently cable actuated, and im assuming that gs-r transmissions are hydraulic clutches...

How hard is this to convert, and how expensive?

and where would be a decent place to order a gs-r trans?

I think HASport makes the conversion kit for the tranny. I would just pick up a b16a SIR 1 cable tranny.

There are a bunch of cable transmissions out there which are available. In order to re-use your clutch parts you want a Y1, S1 or J1 from any JDM '88-'91 B16A equipped car (Civic, CRX, Integra). The '92-'93 JDM Integra XSi and RSi along with the USDM '92-'93 use a close-ratio variant on the YS1 transmission but it requires a different clutch and flywheel to use a YS1.

The S1 and J1 are pretty short geared, and have a 4.4 final drive ratio just like all the other VTEC transmissions. The Y1 has a 4.266 final drive like the LS transmission. I think there also might be a '92-'93 version of the Y1 that uses a 4.4 final drive but like the YS1 it requires a '92-'93 clutch and flywheel.

Best bet is to go with an S1 or J1.

Hmm, thanks for all the info, afraid i fell off earth a while back and have forgotten most of my honda/acura knowledge....

If the S1, or J1 fits on a b16a, it will also fit on my b18a? If these 2 trans are JDM, then i should look overseas for it or what?

Again, thanks for all the help!

All B-series transmissions will bolt up to all B-series engines, it's just that there are two different sizes of clutch/flywheel depending on which transmission you use. You can use either size of clutch/flywheel on any B-series engine.

As for where to try and find an S1 or J1, the best place to look would be any importer that sells JDM engine swaps.

Ok, i guess i will do that, hopefully i will get one that has the same size of clutch/flywheel mine already has, because i use an aftermarket exedy clutch set/flywheel, and that would suck if i had to get another one when ive only had these for about 20k

The S1 and J1 were only sold from '88 to '91, so they should be compatible with your clutch and flywheel. Basically the clutch size was changed for all '92-up B-series transmissions regardless of whether they were attatched to cable or hydraulic pedals.

Of course it never hurts to check with the importer just to make sure the transmission uses the right clutch.
