Default power antenna question

hey all-

I just got a used 96 ls. I am currently selling a 90 ls. here's the question: on my 90, there was a stock acura cd player, and the power antenna didn't go up unless I switched to a radio station - if I was playing a cd, it stayed down. My 96 came with an alpine cd player, and the power antenna always goes up, whether I'm listening to a cd or the radio. Is there any way to make cd power antenna stay down if I'm not listening to the radio? Or do I have to deal with it being up all the time? I almost never listen to the radio, and I think it looks tight with the antenna down, but I don't want to disconnect it...

the lead is already connected if the antenna is going up when he listens to either.

i'm guessing that the headunit raises the antenna simply when it's on, just like the stock radio does if i remember correctly (on 3rd gen).. meaning your only solution might be to add your own switch to kill the antenna.

I believe the add-on CD player in your '90 is designed to interrupt the antenna lead so the antenna only raises when the main portion of the headunit is being raised.

Most head units simply raise the antenna whenever they are turned on.

One other possibility you might want to look into is an S2000 antenna conversion. Do a search for "s2000 antenna" and you should find plenty of info.

Alpine decks have separate antenna leads and remote wires...switch those wires on and you should be fine.

I'm not sure about the add on cd players on G2's, but on G3's...antenna would still go up.

So, pull the deck out and look at the wiring. They're blue wires. If you see one that says ANT and another that says REMOTE...make srue ANT is connected and REMOTE is not, simple as that.

If that's not the case, then simply add a switch inline. It's easy to do.
