Default d16a1 pistons

i got a question. it may be an old one but i need to know. i'm building a d16z6 engine and was looking for 88-89 d16a1 pistons, but i found a 86 integra rs with a d16a1 engine. i want to know whats the difference between the 86-87 and 88-89 and would installing the 86 pistons in my engine be a waist of time. any help will be greatly appreciated.

The 86-87 d16a1 pistons you have are different from the 88-89 d16a1 pistons. Those pistons have a flat top, the 88-89 are domed. You will raise compression with them, supposedly about 11.6:1, but don't take my word for it though. Of course, you would yield higher compression with the 88-89 d16a1 pistons.
