Default vs. CRX hatch and Corolla S.

After work, I decided to go out looking for a race or two, since I was just in the mood. The first time around my normal circuit of stoplights ideal for racing, there were cops everywhere. Since that sucked, I went around again.

As I waited at one of the best lights, two sets of headlights came up behind me fast. One turned out to be a CRX, which stopped next to me. I couldn't recognize the other car by its headlights.

I didn't have time to rev or honk before the light changed so I just gunned it on green. The CRX followed suit. I got the holeshot but he wasn't falling behind. I heard his engine switch over to VTEC and he caught me, then pulled steadily ahead until I let off at 90. He was about a car ahead.

The CRX went to the turn lane at the next light. The car I couldn't identify earlier drew up next to me. It turned out to be a newer Corolla with a girl driving. I got her pretty badly on green. I got her so badly, in fact, that I let her go first at the next light just to make sure she was really trying.

She took off hard and I had to play catch-up. I caught her by second and was pulling on her in third, at which point I'd had my fun and let off. She continued on at a high rate of speed. I thought that Corollas S came with the 180-horse VVTL-i but I guess not.

Auto Ion quad coupes come with the VTi continuosly variable transaxle, so they might not be so slow compared to a manual. I'm not sure if its quicker than a normal automatic or not. I've been unable to find an acceleration comparison between a VTi quad coupe vs. a regular automatic Ion sedan.
