Default subs in a 99 hatch?

i have 2 cerwin vega 12' and i was wondering where would be a good spot to put them. should i split them up and place 2 custom boxes on either side of the hatch? should i remove my spare and put them in that well? what would i do with my spare then :-/

on a side note, what do you racers do with your spare?

any pics or ideas would be helpful

I put a similar thread up a few weeks ago because am in the same position. I am going to keep my spare tire so i am going to mount 1 12 on each side of the hatch and probably mount the amps to the back of the seat.
There are a few pics in the thread https://www.honda-acura.net/forums/s...d.php?t=119008
Fiberglassing is your best bet

most people just get rid of the spare. I've had to use mine once, the spare went flat in 2 minutes just sitting there...i plan to take mine out when i have a better plan of what i wanna do for my subs in my 91 hatch.

Two 12's in a hatch is going to be loud as hell. One twelve in a hatch with a good amp is enough. I have only had one twelve in every car I have owned and it was plenty loud enough. You just need to pick a really good sub and provide it with the correct amount of power. I have one 10" JLw3v2 in the trunk of my Legend and people think I have 2 12's. I can't even turn the bass up more than half way. I would just make a box with the speaker facing the rear. A sealed enclosure would be best. That way you won't here any port noise and you will get tight, accurate bass. I would consider selling your Cerwin vegas and purchasing 1 12" JL. You won't be dissapointed.

heh yah it is rather loud, almost overkill :-)

actually i was thinking about just buying 2 new 10s an JL did cross my mind because one of my friend has 1 15' JL and its louder than my 2 12's
or maybe just 1 10'.. is there any other place i could put my spare??the wheelwell would be perfect for 1 10..

Just out of curiosity, has anyone tried the Bazooka subs in a hatch?

I don't want to hi-jack the thread, but it's what I was thinking about putting in mine due to it's size and simplicity.

I have a 2000 hatch and im saving b/c im going to invest in the best of the best the JL W7 subs. All u need is 1!! I saw the Cribs edition on MTV with G-Unit they had Hummers and Escalades with only 1 10" or 12" sub and that shit knocks. They are rather expensive but the sound, clarity, bass, and loudness cannot be surpassed. Besides takes up less space because u need only one. The boxes that JL designs for the W series subs do not come in dual formats only single enclosures. So they recommend using only one. Besides that take a hell of a lot of power to run them but either way u won't be dissapointed. I Tell u that. 1 10" will sound louder and clearer then both ur 12" subs put together. So go to a JL audio dealer and ask them about the W7's

I am running two alpine type R 12s powered by 2 alpine mrd-m300 amps in the back of my hatch. Its not an overkill as long as you dont put the bass up too high. I was running 1 12 type R for a while there and decided i liked the two better. The bass is there when i want it and its clean (especially after i install my raammat60 next week!)
As for the JLs, in my opinion they make some of the best subwoofers on the market. But you really cant tell that by watching MTVs Cribs due to TVs higher kHz range of frequency (Subs are used for lower frequencies in the 10-100s of Hz). Monstas is what they are, listen to them in person.
