Question about buying a car...
I found an ad in a newspaper for a 98 Civic EX 5 sp. Im really intererested in this car but it has a few problems.

The things im really worried about though are the one mirror and the airbags have been deployed. It had been in a small wreck (dunno exactly) and they salesman said it had been repaired. I looked it over and it looked like it had been professionally repaired. The car has new paint, everything else is in PERFECT condition. The front radiator support looked like it had been bent a little and professionally straightened. Other than that it looks top shape. I was wondering what I should look for when I go look at it again.. What questions should I ask the dealer. Also, if I take a car (that I havn't purchased yet) up to the Honda dealer will they look it over for me and tell me if Its a good safe car or not?

How many miles? how much are they selling it for? I woundt pay more than 3500 if it has no airbags and it has been in an accident.
I found my 94 EX in exelent condition, the only problem it had was somone tried to jack the stereo and cracked the dash (replaced with wrecking yard for cheap). I payed 1600 and it blue books at 3600..... I would recomend looking around more, and see if you cant find somthing in beter condition. I meen I would rather spend money to make my car nicer than when I bought it instead of spending money making it look and run like it is suposed to..... Keep lookin im sure you will find a beter deal.
P.S. Keep in mind no air bags makes your insurance higher, also if it has been wrecked....

It's really difficult to tell sometimes what damage there was to the car in a collision unless you were the one who arranged the repairs. I wouldn't trust the salespeople to give you a full account of it either, since their job is to sell the car. Is there a mechanic or someone you could take it to have it inspected? In Denver there used to be a place called AutoMD's that specialized in inspecting used cars (that's where I had my Si inspected before I bought it), there might be something like that around you. I would also try to leverage a lower price...it definitely is not worth the full KBB value.

Oh, hell no, dude. They want about $1000 under blue book retail for a wrecked car?!?! F&$k that. If you pay that much for a car it should be in PERFECT condition. A wreck bad enough to bend framework should reduce resale by $2-3K. I wouldn't spend a dime over $6000 (after taxes) on it.
