Default Luck came my way...

There's a guy that comes into work every once in a while that I talked to alot that drove an extremely nice 00 Si. Had exhaust, intake, nice wheels, low profile tires, perfect drop, etc. etc. Well come to find out he traded it in for a down-payment on a Silverado. He told me tonight that he still had a front lip, front bumper, set of strobes, headlights, and a few other misc. things that he would just GIVE me. Also, he told me something I could do to get a nice sounding exhaust and not have to spend a whole lot. He told me I could just replace the resonator with a straight pipe and get maybe a magnaflow muffler. Told me I could gut the cat too but that would stop me from passing emissions. You think his idea is a good one? He said it wouldn't be loud either. Just a nice low rumble until you stomp the gas hard and then it flared up. What are yalls opinions? Sorry for the long rant/questions but i was kinda excited about me getting this stuff for free....:driving:

good stuff!!! :goodjob:

freebies are always good!!!

however, a resonator acts as a muffler and i question him for saying the tone isn't loud after taking out the resonator.... i guess sound is all relative.

Nice man. I love free stuff!!

I wouldn't do the whole removing of the resonator. I did that for a while and it was LOUD! I ended up putting a 12" resonator back in cause I couldn't stand it anymore. :ugh:

Congrats.

Yeah, taking out the resonator just makes more noise, that's all. But replacing the cat-back with straigh pipes is usually the best way to free up restriction...and a Hi-Flo Cat.

Actually, another alternative would just to buy a muffle and get custom pipes, usually you can buy the pipes at local car hardware stores, if you know someone who welds, then there you go, a nice cheap exhaust.

Ok, does anyone have a picture of their custom exhaust. Like maybe a madrel bent pipes to a aftermarket (say Magnaflow) muffler that I can look at? Also, anyone have a picture of an Si lip on a 5th gen?

You have dual exhaust? :eh:

I have a full custom exhaust. 2.5".

For an N/A app, I wouldn't go more than 2.25/2.5".

I hope that you're just planning on selling that stuff . Free stuff rocks . I get my friends hooked up with 2.5' piping, flowmaster or magnaflow mufflers, and a tip for $115 installed all the time. But, that's with an extreme hookup. I don't know how much you are looking at spending though.
