New 5th Gen Hatch CX GSR TURBO
Im new to the honda-acura.net scene. I just bought a '93 civic hatchback cx with a gsr, greddy 18G turbo kit and BOV. I got a Apex VAFC, greddy exhaust, intake, Acura LS Interior, Acura LS Wheels, GSR Suspension, GSR Tranny, Spoon Rear Spoiler, Tachometer, air/fuel ratio, and a Wide Mouth Front Bumper.
i do have a carbon fiber hood on it now, black with dual air vents. Its a really sweet ride. Putting Kumho Supra 712 tires on it Tuesday. Hopefully ill stick better than these michellens.
bought it from this dealership already done, this place takes old cars, and does engine swaps and turbo's all the time, so im believing its been done properly.
ok, so anyway.. im not a mechanic at all, its running at only 6 psi right now. I would like it to go up to about 8 or so (good idea?) I'm figuring I can do that rather safely. Now, I have to buy a boost controller right (dumb question), or is there a way to do it with the kit on there (is that the blue box...what is the blue box?) sorry, my first turbo car and i dont know to much.
The car already flies now, but i'd like to get a little extra kick to it. I'm definitly going to get it dyno'd soon, but just laid out a lot of money for this and im getting married in August, so the other half wont be too happy about putting more $$ into it already.. i had to fight to get the Supra tires
So is there a cheap way to do this safely, and any suggestions on this APEXi, i went ahead and leaned out the fuel a little bit by about 5% during VTEC mode, which i set to 5300 rpm, because I heard they run rich, and i figured i wont kill anything with only 5%, and i keep an eye on the air/fuel ratio - during vtech im near rich and stoich.
any feedback would be appreciated, thanks
PS what do you think i'd run in 1/4 mile and whp are?

I run a Greddy Profec-B SpecII electronic BC. I like it a LOT. It has a bunch of features to keep you from boost creeping/spiking and has warning levels and cutoffs so if you spike the controller will know it and drop your boost level. It's very very nice. :goodjob:
The BC will feed into your vacuum lines and change when your actuator style wastegate opens up to vent the excess pressure. It's an easy job.
Sounds like you've got a premade toy there. Not a fan of the front bumper, but hey... at least the motor's done well.
I'd be careful leaning out especially with boost. You require a lot more fuel when you have a turbo than you would otherwise. Do you know what cc injectors you have? The blue box is part of the Greddy kit. It handles some of the fuel/ignition management, but is pretty narrow and unflexable. It's a good thing that you have a VAFC in the mix. That will give you some tuning capabilities.
Quite honestly, if you're referring to an Air/Fuel gauge, you're not getting accurate readings and you shouldn't trust the thing. They have been found to be pretty inaccurate and are more for a "general idea" of where your air/fuel is. Be careful relying on that thing...
I think you can safely push 8 psi, but I wouldn't push it. I have lowered compression and stock sleeves and I don't plan on going past 14psi until I upgrade my sleeves. If you want to keep your car running well, don't push its limits. If you do want to go balls out, do some internal work and make it strong enough to handle the extra power.
Glad you started posting out here. Nice to meet you annnnnd!

:edit: oh, and for future reference... it's vtec, not vtech.

LOL.. nice ..
vtec.. got it. yeah, im not planning on using this thing to beat out dodge vipers or anything, just camaro's
I'll probably just put the VAFC back to normal all 0% tomorrow and keep it stock. I was wondering it it would hurt it or not with the turbo and all, thanks for the input. I wish i knew of a place that would tune this thing for me. only place i know of that does dyno's charges 150 for 1 hour, 100 each additional hour, and they just let you use the machine. but no tuning
oh well.
oh and i believe they are the 310cc that come with the greddy 18G

You should talk to some of the other NY guys about tuning. I know MaxBoosT and hondura are in NY.
