Default fog light trouble

first posted this on sho-

so i just got a jdm fog switch and wanted to replace the depot one. So i put it in, and everything works but the switch light. so i tap the side of the switch a little and the relay made a wierd noise and the fog lights turned off and now they wont turn back on. i checked the fuse and it was ok, do you think i need to get a new relay?

so i got the relay and it still doesnt work. is there another fuse i should be looking for besides the fuse on the fog light harness? i know the switch is fine. let me know if you have any ideas on waht it could be!

Try your old switch, see if the problem occurs.

Dunno which set of fogs you have, but the only standard color is red and black.

Red connects from 12V power source (battery) to the + of the switch.

Black connect from the - (or ground) of the switch to a grounded point to the chassis
Another Black connects from - of the lights to a grounded point to the chassis

Other wire (in your case, probably blue, in my case it was white) from the "live" or switched terminal of the switch to the power (+) of the lights.

Hope that helps.

be a little more specific... give us the wiring color and the the pin arrangement on your relay. the newer switch may have a different pin configuration.

in the meanwhile, hook up the fog lights directly to your battery for a second to see if the bulbs are burned.

the fogs i have are the depot oem style for 92-95 civic. the 2 switches are just about the same exept one is amber and looks good and the other looks cheapo. I am thinking the other red wire is for the switch (oh btw these wires are going to the new relay) because on the other side of the car a red wire connects to the switch harness.
