Default ...need to widen my tip!

...no really, and here's why;

I purchased a 4 inch silencer for my Hayame. I had THOUGHT my muffler was 4 inches but it turns out it's metric :doh:. This means the exhaust tip is about 2 to 4 mm to small for the silencer.

I'm desperate to get this bastard on and I'm hoping there's a way to either widen the tip slightly, or shrink the silencer.

I spent months searching for this silencer so I would hate to have to toss it

help!! :awais:

i think it would be easier to trim the silencer than get a new tip. I'd probably just grind it down with a die-grinder on the dremel. I'm not exactly sure how those things are held in there though, so that might be an issue.

What you can do is go to a local hardware store and try to find (it's gonna sound funny) A rubber seal for a coffie pot the ones that are all metal ! and put that into the silencer and try that ! Or go to home depot and see if they have a rubber washer/seal make sure its for high heat ! GoodLuck !

You'd end up having to trim the edges down all the way around the silencer and then drill a hole in it, and put a little L bracket on it, maybe an inch long on each side, and use that to put the screw in to anchor the silencer...

i think you got it mixed up . The silencer is too big for the tip.

Well Now that I think about it your right ! Just get a rubber seal and drill a hole through your tip and the same to the silencer and it will be all good ! I know if sounds stupid but it will work or do the L thing !

I say return the silencer and get one that fits your exhaust, trimming it won't really help, because unless you cut it perfectly, the silencer will be in-effective.

go to a exhaust shop and they can flare ur tip to match the sliencer. Then it will stay round and u wont have to mod ur silencer.

Have you tried contacting Hayame themselves to see if they could correct the problem?
