Expert Troubleshooter Needed
Greetings!
would appreciate comments or suggestions on how to solve engine problem.
1988 Acura Integra jerks and "Check Engine" light comes on once engine hits 4000 rpm or 70 mph. CE light goes off once engine is restarted (and kept below 4000 rpm and 70 mph).
Just replaced fuel filter and plugs. Have been exchanging rebuilt distributors.
Just ordered a shop manual in order to learn how to read diagnostic codes related to Check Engine warning lite. Anybody seen this problem before?
Thanks in advance for your help.

car has about 193,000 though engine was replaced with one imported from japan that supposedly had about 60k miles.
5 speed transmission. When the mechanic installed the above engine (about 4 years ago at 167k miles) he drained the tranny fluid and forgot to refill it. Thus, had to replace it from the same source from which the engine was acquired. Therefore, don't know how much wear it has. Both engine and transmission have performed well in recent years.
in addition to plugs (they appeared to have some oil on them), fuel filter (was needed; cured rough idle), and several distributors mentioned earlier the Check Engine light signaled that the oxygen sensor needed to be replaced about 45 days ago. I replaced it.
Ok, now I need to know what the compression number for each cylinder is since you mentioned possible oil on the spark plugs.
Also, have you tried just resetting the ECU between maintainence items?
