Default DILEMMA...I need an engine swap....

I own a 95 civic EX automatic with just 54k miles on it. Despite the great condition of the car, I seriously want a manual transmission. After checking the prices of engine swaps, which I would do since the price of a transmission change is already heavy, no one seems to know how much the total (parts and installation) will come to. Since I have an automatic I'll need to buy mounts and a clutch but I am unsure where to find those for cheap. The type of engine I would swap in is either the B16 or B18. Also I would only trust this sort of swap to a professional (yes I know they're expensive.) Would anyone be willing to provide me with a solid price range?

Thanks

Ohh yeah and the guy who knows about civics around the corner will do just about the same job as a pro ! Goodluck with everything man !

how much is it gonna cost your cousin? I don't necessarily need a professional just a mechanic who I can trust and who is experienced.

yea i heard that the b18 had much better torque. Still, since Im gonna be paying out the ass for this swap, I was hoping to go the slightly affordable route. I wouldn't even be considering a swap if I could have found a better value used car under 8000, but I can't. The car is in that good of shape.

Yeah I hear you man I just bought a 92 about 3 weeks ago for $900 and this car is mint inside out all it needed was a nice detail job and thats it ! The hood was faded but Im getting a CF hood so I did'nt care ! Im gonna but in a B18B1 motor in all I need is a dahm Garage . Im so pissed I can not find one ! lol . If you have $8000 I would go the cheaper route and get An LS motor and turbo it out ! Auto LS turbo will be so hot ! Get the motor change the internals and swap it into your ride you will be mega happy man ! you'll be like :awais: when you pick it up !

$5000-$6000 seems pretty steep for a motor change. For that kind of dough why not just buy a Mustang GT and use the Honda as a winter beater. You would get 10 times more power per doller going that route

If your Civic is in good condition and you haven't really spent money on any non-transferrable modifications, I'd suggest selling it and pick up a Civic with a manual transmission. Otherwise, it's not that big of a deal to convert the tranny... Expect to pay $2000 for the motor, $500 in misc items, such as axles, pedals, clutch MC, mounts, etc... and about $500 for labor. I paid around $3000 for my motor, tranny, tranny conversion, misc parts, and installation.

I'd assume if you can't do the work yourself, you'd end up paying, I'd say about an extra $500~ or so for the tranny conversion...
