swap help needed....
i just got a 2000 si. i want to put that engine in my 97 dx hb. anyone have a link on how to's on the wiring? is the plug the same on the drivers side in both cars? does the harness for the ecu just go to the ecu...or does it go elsewhere in the dash? please help.....

you got a pretty simple motor swap... you'll have to rearrange a few of the pins on the factory ecu harness to match your SI motor ecu. you can use all the wiring thats in your 97 right now, but you'll have to add a few wires and extend a few plugs.. not too hard

but i don't want to use the factory harness in the dx. i am very meticulous about my cars,....i want it to look factory stock. is it that hard to replace the engine harness? or does it go into the dash? if so... i am gonna rip out the dash.?hondaswap don't tell me squat about 6g hondas...
believe me, you won't know the difference.. it looks completely stock. if you want, use the engine harness from the Si (which i would do) and plug it straight into the dash harness of the DX. they will fit each other perfectly without modifications. in order to get your motor to run correctly, you'll need to add two wires for vtec and one for the knock sensor. you might also need to extend the secondary O2 sensor wires cause of the difference in location. there might be a few others but i forgot off hand.
the si and dx harnesses inside the car are about 99% identical... you'll get a check engine light when you run the motor.. i believe its code 91, which is the fuel pressure tank sensor. you need to hook up this sensor or get the Si fuel tank to turn off this sensor cause your 97 hatch is an OBDII-A and the 2000 motor is an OBDII-B. the differences are minimal, but you still have to deal with them..

just got it running.....damn that sounds so sweet.... i got a few pics. i will post later. i just got front bumper cover off. headlights. both fenders. i am gonna take doors off next. i have to figure out where the wires are for the doors.
:awais: DAMN IT IS FRIGGIN' COLD HERE...17 DEG. FINGERS ARE NUMB. I AM WORKING IN THE DRIVEWAY...IN THE SNOW. THAT SUCKS.
but i guess the end result will be worth it
