Default Clunky tranny? How to fix?

Hey all, My '96 has an Auto tranny (I commute) and it seems not to shift too smooth. You can definetely tell when it shifts, and if you coast then push the gas again, sometimes it will lag for a sec., then quickly engage almost as if you were dropping the clutch, but it's an auto. Could the tranny need adusting or something? Thanks.

When's the last time you swapped the tranny fluid and filter (if applicable)? If you can't remember, you might want to do it. Honda recommends a swap every 35 or 40 thousand miles.

Try pulling the fuse for the ECM for about 30 seconds or disconnecting the battery for about 30 sec to reset the computer. My auto tranny gets funky sometimes too and I pull the fuse and all is good for a while again. 1996 was the first year of that tranny so it has some software issues.

make sure you have enough fluid in it
low fluid could cause that

could that GM syncromesh stuff work in an auto tranny ??

Ya, the fluid is nice and clear. Will pulling the fuse on stuff do anything harmful to anything else? I may try that though. Thanks for the help, if think of anything else that would be great.

The one thing that sucks about pulling your fuse is you lose all your radio presets cause they are on the same curcuit.

Ok i'll try that, I have an Alpine 9803, will it still delete the presets? I just don't want to pull a fuse and have it not start or something...

Yeah, it will delete the presets and the time. I've got an Alipine 7894 and it does anyway. You can pull the fuse with no worries. It's just like disconnecting the battery. I've done it tons of times on mine.
