Default Bought a 94 Civic DX

Hi, I have had a 92 Prelude Si with a 2.3, that turnd out to be a blown engine so I got rid of the car a while back, and invested my money into an old ford truck that I turnd into a 12 second truck, I know what I am doing when it comes to mechanics and racing, I just wanted to know more about my new car, I dont know much about the civic except everyone and there grandmother has one. I want to fix it up, but im not all sure what the specs are for all stock, it is a DX and it has a Vtec engine in it, not sure what size. Does anyone know what engine the 94 Civic Dx 2dr's came with? That is my starting point, I think its a 1.5 but im not positive, the car is not in my posetion now, its geting detailed and a new windshield put in. Tell me anything you can about my car, thanks.

hmmm...thats strange. the 94 dx came with the d15b7 which sure as hell is NOT vtec. the d16 is vtec, but it only came in the ex (correct me if im wrong anyone). was there a swap done?

look at the engine code on the block. it should be just to the left of the exhaust maniold engraved into the block.

D16 would be better, more HP

125, vs 102

if it says VTEC on it, its probably VTEC then :-p

can you get a pic of the engine bay?

Are you sure its a DX, and not an EX?

DX has a crappy interior, manual everything, what kind of options/power stuff do you have? does your car has a factory tach?

I have all the options, and im sure its a DX it has power everything, the starter chip that you have to have in to start the car, sunroof, cruize control, security alarm, 5 disk cd changer, power everything, the only think in this car that is manual is the tranny.

What do you meen does it have a factory tach? it has a spedo and a tach next to it?

stop right there.

SUNROOF = CIVIC EX

you dont have a dx my man. you have an ex. and you should be damn proud too. the d15 in the dx/lx is nuthin. nobody wants it, nobody likes it. its reliable as hell, but its weak.

the d16 on the other hand is a good engine (not that the d15 isnt or anything, its just better). you have a 125 hp, 106 ft/lbs of torque, 1.6 L, VTEC motor. a lot of people mod this engine for more power. no one mods the d15.

also, in case you didnt know (and it sounds like you do you just have it mixed up a little), the EX is the top of the line Civic (minus the Si of course), not the DX. LX/DX are both lower class than the EX. also, if you have a tachometer (rpms) you certaintly dont have a DX. only an EX and LX came with a TACH. since you have a sunroof, it will be an EX cuz this is the only model that came with it (minus, of course, the Si).

Sweet, so tell me if this was a good deal then, 118k, 94 EX, with 5 disk cd changer and alarm. exterior = Perfect condition. Interior has small crack in dash arround stereo (cheap fix) and has small scratch in headliner about 1mm. Engine runs like a champ, the only thing is the clutch is a little soft. How much for a new clutch? And would I want to upgrade for 25$ to a short shifter?

Oh yeah, and I am paying 160$ for 10 months, = $1600.00. Intrest free.

One more thing, how much would insurance be on this? it has the V-chip and an alarm? How much are some of you paying?
