I am very confused. I have a 2000 civic ex coupe. A friend of mine has a 2000 civic ex coupe. Mine is a standard, and his is an auto. They BOTH should have D16Y8s....right? Well his valve cover has VTEC embossed on it and mine just says 'Honda' can anybody tell me why?

honda just has different valve covers. some are black, some aren't. some say honda vtec, some don't. i think it depends on where it's made. the sure sign would be the block stamp.

They did the same thing with the d16z6's. Some of them said vtec on them and were unfinished, and others had the H and were black.... Depended on model in that case, but same idea with the 6th gens.

the 6gen ex's never came with VTEC on teh valve cover. the only usdm ex that have those VTEC valve covers were the 94-95 civic ex's and si's.
