Default suggestions on d16a1 parts.

heres the deal fellas, thanks to the advice of other members on this forum and am junking the idea of putting a d16z6 in my 1st gen teg. Instead i am going to pull the d16a1 and rebuild it.
Here is my situation, right now i have a grand to put into it. out of this money needs to be a rebuild kit, ie. gasket/seal kit. i need suggestions as to what i should do with the remaininG money.

i know it sounds like a math question, but your input is much appreciated.

Well, add up all the parts you need for the rebuild and set aside an extra $200 for stuff that you forget or stuff you break. If you are still below $1k, then you can start thinking about spending it.

If I were you, I'd just hot tank everything, bore if needed, blance the whole rotating assembly, replace rings, gaskets, main studs, head bolts, head gasket, and put her back together.

No point in wasting money on performance parts. Take it up to factory new and leave it be.

I would suggest a new clutch while the engine's out, though. No sense in doing things twice.

Good luck buying cams, pistons, gasket kit, rings, and new head bolts for less than $1000.
