Default need help real quick

how does one rotate the crankshaft. i have my valve cover off and my timing belt cover off. i need to get the cylinder to tdc so i can adjust the valve lashes.i dont see the white markings on the crankshaft pulley either. oh.. i have a 97 civic ex(d16y8) thanx.

how did you rotate it?

hopefully by rotating using the crank pulley and rotating it CCW. until the TDC marks line up on the sides.

see, i tried to rotate it using the bolt on the crank pully, and it just wouldnt budge. I had to use the touchy task of turning the key and hoping it gets to the right spot. took a while, but it worked.

i hope when you tried you used the right length wrench for it and not a stubby.

i used a wrench with a huge pipe over it, prolly 3 feet.

were you turning it clockwise or counter-clockwise. cause if you're trying to turn it clockwise it wont move for sh!t.

actuallly, i used my hand to rotate the pulley. i had the car in neutral. but it wouldnt budge going counterclockwise. i had to go clockwise.i set it to TDC for every cylinder an adjusted. it seemed as though my exhaust vlaves were the only ones that were off. thanx for the help
