Default NA Questions!

I preety much know that i want to go NA, i have a 2001 gsr. The current mods i have are cai/tb/im/h/e/nocat/vtcafc/plugs/wires/ecu.
I want to have a real nice allmotor car but i kindda dont know where to start. All i keep hearing is people taking like civic type R cams or,type r pistons, different heads or bottom ends from different cars, i'm confused , where do i start. Ok let me say this i know LATER ON i want to bore it to a 2.0.But is there anything else i can get going on like switching different parts from different cars?
hey any info will help here HAN members, thanks!

Depending upon how much you want to spend...

I would start with the head and get new cams, cam gears, and springs. You can get ITR cams and springs and some AEM cam gears then spend some time on the dyno with your VAFC. Or you can look into getting Skunk2 products, which are a tad more expensive but of good quality and research and work very well in VTEC B series motors. Lastly you could look to get a complete TODA package with some spec B or C cams. This will be very costly but is worth every penny.

Also think about changing your CR with pistons (I like the ITR and TODA) as well as changing your head gasket (different thiknesses will raise or lower your CR).

As far as the ITR & CTR cams go I believe that the GSR intake cam is the same as the ITR exhaust cam so that can be reused along with you intake cam springs. Also the CTR intake cam is the most aggresive, moreso than the ITR, and you can use that with either CTR or ITR intake springs.

get a cat and stop polluting the environment :wtc:

Since you don't have any internals, that would be a good place to start. Cams, cam gears, valves, valvesprings, then you can move onto new rods, pistons, crankshaft, etc.

to correct you on this....the cams are not the same. the intake valve springs from the gsr are the same as the itr exhaust valve springs. the ctr intake cam has only 3 degrees more duration than the itr intake cam. the 00-01 itr intake cam is identical to the ctr intake cam.

enjoy :wiggle:

In addition to the above, I'll note that you cannot bore your engine to 2 liters. You must resleeve it first.

Trying to get more NA power, if you want to pass emmisions, I would recommend full port and polishing of your head, get type-r intake valves- they are cut back and cheaper than say skunks or whoever, use your stock exhaust valves, skunk: springs, retainers, and guides and skunk stage one cams best stage one power increases!!! get your intake matched or buy an aftermarket!!! use stock pistons and a thinner head gasket or type-r pistons for a little more cr. your bttom end is strong already, but it could use some miro-polishing and some balancing and definitely better rod bolts-ARP- have fun!!! stage two anything will make it difficult to pass emmisions!!! but they are lots of fun!!!!

look into upping your compression. of course, wait on the pistons till you bore it out. thinner head gasket. higher compression is the path to HP for NA
