Default Leather Bike Gear Opinions

Hey, spring will be here in 3-4 months so i'm prepping myself for MSF. Looking to buy the gear now but when I went to the store I was a bit intimidated by all the nice looking stuff and the corresponding high prices. I also checked online and found better prices so I will try it on in the store and buy it online.

Alpinestars are good brand? Joe Rocket is Canadian so it's cheap in local stores (1/2 price of Alpinestars) but I heard it's not that good.

Will black and grey leathers last the longest?

What do you guys use?

i heard the pricey gear is really worth it and the high price of sportbike gear corresponds with the high quality of the products

joe rocket is the shiznit. i had a pretty bad over the bars wreck several weeks back & if not for my joe rocket ballistic jacket, the doc said i would've broken my colorbone instead of seperating my shoulder & might have had some spinal damage from landing on my back. the body armour in the jacket took the trauma just like a good helmet.

i will be replacing the shoulder & back armour in it. i'm gonna buy me a new one & turn this one into the passenger's jacket.

as far as leathers go, i think a good leather or ballistic jacket is required for street riding, but not really leather lowers for the street. These are very cool for streetriding. they are regular looking blue jeans w/ kevlar woven in!!!

Aerostitch makes a VERY good suit, but they are pricey

btw: the new J.R. ater ego is a very cool piece. mesh jacket w/ zip-out liner & zip-on/off panels for rain protection. US retail is $249

hope that is of some help!

I worked at a bike store so i know a little bit about this stuff..

do you plan on taking your bike to a track, you will need either a 1 piece suit or a 2 piece where you can zipper each together..

Alpinestars is a very good company, and make awesome stuff, but its usually not cheap.

Joe rocket is very good too, and so it tecnik(sp?)

With the jackets you want them to be pretty tight(so the padding dosent shift too much in case you fall

that is precisely why i suggested a good ballistic or leather jacket, but not leather lowers for somebody streetriding...save the full leathers for track days.

those kevlar jeans will look natural & protect your ass (literally)
