Default Exhaust manifold - Y7 vs. Y8

Ok, I might have asked this before but I never got an answer...

I have a 98 DX (D16Y7)....the exhaust manifold/cat set-up is retarted, making a header pointless and a turbo complicated...

This is because the header sits in front of the engine in the engine bay, the exhaust manifold is only 3-4 inches long (guessing)...then there is a pipe between my cat and my cat-back exhaust....

so what i'm asking is, will and exhaust manifold from a Y8 fit my Y7? also. If it does, will my cat be able to fit under the engine where the Y8's is? or will I have to get a cat from a Y8....Finally, will it match up with my exhaust right now (apexi WS)?

I am asking because i want to get a header, or I'm thinking about peicing together a turbo set-up over the winter...

ANY INFO WILL HELP....thanks all....

Currently you have a close coupled cat.

Your cat will not work. You'll need to go aftermarket. But yet, the header will fit. And you'll need a new exhaust or trim the one you have.

I can't get a cat from an EX?

**edit** What I'm asking is, how can I convert my Y7 exhaust system to a Y8 exhaust system?

You could, but I personally wouldn't buy a used cat. That's just buying used spark plugs.

Install y8 header, y8 style cat. Rewire and extend engine harness for 4-wire HO2 sensor.

You will also need to modify your current exhaust system as undoubtedly it'll be too long.

Don't the EX,LX,DX use the same pri. & sec. O2 sensors, just in different places on the manifold (because of the different cat positions)?

Most of the close coupled cats use 1 wire O2 sensors because they don't need a heater.
