Default Apex-I VAFC Settings??

I just had a friend install my Apex-I VAFC controller and I havent screwed with any of the settings, We have left everything in default mode cause I hear it sbest to get the car tuned by a shop to get it set correct, But is there any settings or can all of them be set without that??

I would think most Civics are set the same on the controllers. I have a 2000 Civic EX with the basic bolt on's, ( Header, Intake, Exhaust ) and also have a 50hp shot of Nitrous, so I am not sure where is a good place to set the VTEC to engage, etc. I as of now have the VTEC setting on the VAFC set to "OFF" so the unit doesnt reset it. Can anyone gibe some advice? Thanks!!

Leave the VTEC engagement point alone until you get an aftermarket cam. It'll do you no good to change it.

To be honest, if I installed one of those buggers I would make sure I had an appointment for some dyno tuning the next day. The only time you have to worry about pre-setting the thing is if you have a turbo or supercharger. In those cases, you would set it really rich to drive to the dyno shop without blowing the motor.

Just leave it alone and set an appointment with a good local tuner. You will be very happy with the results, because you'll get to see them as it is tuned.

Thanks, I have heard you can get some pretty nice HP increase numbers as well from it, So I am looking foward to getting it done, for now its set where APEX-I says to set it during initial setup, so its all good right now..LOL
