Default UPDATE: 93 Thunderbird vs. 95 del Sol

I saw this link from the TCCoA site and had to post one reply. I hope this makes it before any mod deletes it, but here goes...

***Disclaimer: This is not Honda bashing!! This post is designed to correct some common misconceptions and to express my experiences.

1) I have a buddy who works for a Honda dealer here in Houston. He has told me that Preludes are horrible cars to own and maintain. The majority of cars he works on are Preludes. he believes (this is his opinion, but I share it) that Honda can build a bank vault of a car that has very little performance character, but will last forever. They can, however, engineer in performance at the cost of reliability. Hence, the Prelude. He's not sure about S2000 yet.

2) Honda (and Acura), Toyota (and Lexus) and Nissan (Infiniti) build their cars here in America using UAW union laborers. sxecrow, take note. These are the same folks that build only 60,000 miles into American cars.

3) Unless you are very familiar with Tbirds, be careful. My stock 1997 4.6L v8 automatic with my 220 lb. backside in it runs 15.40 in the quarter. Race weight is about 3800 lbs. Add SVO heads and intake, a Vortech blower, and a good comp tune, and you are looking at mids 12s or better.

Once again, I am not blasting ANY kind of car, much less a Honda. Everybody has their thing. Thanks for letting me invade your space for a bit.

P.S. If you think a multi-valve DOHC motor is cool, drive a 1996-2001 Mustang Cobra. All aluminum 32 valve DOHC that will scream to 7000 rpm. Oh yeah, and it's a V8. :P

im sorry...but i dont really see a point to this thread, i know your not bashing anything....and ive been in fast ass cars, dotn get me wrong. such as my friends twin turbocharged cobra engine driven mustang. ever car has their pros and cons. and my friend has probably the same car as you. and it would not be able to do any good offroad, he always gets stuck. it also cannot handle at all. sure the bitch can do brakestands like nothing haha, but thats all it is. is a strip car. not a road course car.so at that note, in before the lock.

You do have a very valid point and I will stand corrected for my union workers statement, but you have to admit it. If you go to a track, and a finely tuned Honda runs you, and spanks you, you'd be impressed just as much as we are when you run and win.

And certain forums are for certain cars.

And funny, on all kinds of different message boards dedicated to so many different cars, there will always be debates, flames, bashing, rumors, misconceptions, blatent lies....there is no way around it.

What I don't get is why someone would feel the need to take it upon themselves to register at a forum, dedicated to a car they don't own, to "correct" it's members. I for one have never felt the need to make a trip to Miata.net so that I could educate Miata owners about the Sol VTEC.

With that beaing said...

BlackCat94 and acropolis_av.. You guys have your Cougars and T-Birds. We're happy for you. Please kindly go back to the forums where you came from. Your assistance is really not needed here.
