Default when buying a GSR motor for swap...

how do u know if it will work when installed?

im going today with a mechanic to look at a private sale just so he can ask some smart questions.
those who have experience what should i be aware of? this motor is legit and comes with papers according to him.
would it be smart to get him so sign a 'contract' to give my $$ back if it doesnt work?
thanks

Some companies sell their engines with a 30 day or at least a startup warrenty. Aside from the obvious like a hole in the block, there ins't any way to really check if a removed engine will run without tearing it down. I would definately ask whoever you buy an engine from what kind of warrenty they offer to protect yourself and get it in writing as well. If a company refuses to offer a warrenty, or something sounds fishy, look elsewhere. There are lots of B18C1's out there so shop around till you find a place you feel comfortable buying from.

You can ask for them, but unless you see the tests performed, they can just make up numbers and tell them to you. I still say get a startup warrenty to protect yourself.
