Time for my rant for the day
Our senior design project is due in 2 weeks. I told the guy designing the lightbars that I wanted exact values for everything by tonight so we could build the cast and make them. Well he has nothing, I tell you nothing and the whole freaking project depends on his part working. I am resisting the urge to go and strangle him, I left the lab because if I sat there any longer I would have pummelled him. He has no clue what current rating the LEDs have, he is going by trial and errors and burning shit left right and center. They made datasheets for a reason, so you don't burn things. Being team leader its my ass on the line when I talk to our sponsor about why the hell we suddenly need more money.
Fire the guy from the team and get someone competent to do the job in there...seems simple to me:dunno:

ALWAYS ASK FOR PROOF OF PROGRESS!!!!
As the project proceeds you have regular meetings...right? Well at these meetings you are supposed to ask everyone to bring in hard copy of all their research and progress....if it cannot be put in hard copy then you are responsible for going to their desk and viewing whatever it is they have to show.
If they cannot provide satisfactory proof of advancement then you either boot them from the team and find a replacement, or you ride their ass until it is done.
Seems simple and that is the position you agreed to accept when being made team leader...whether or not you understood this responsibility fully is on you.
