Dave - Basically what happened was that she was interviewed for a real incident that happened (Child ran into the street and a cop hit him. Nobody is at fault, just bad situation...)
Anywho, this lady was saying her 10 year old "son" was so distraught over what happened that he committed suicide. Come to find out, she made the whole thing up
First off. That is possibly the saddest thing i have seen this week (live in Florida). I nearly teared up.
Second, Craig Smith wrote a horrible article. At least your story should make sense, even if you have to "ask questions" to make your conclusion. As journalists always do.
However, props to him for telling the truth as he found it.
