Default is this weird?

i haven't had a manual transmission in over 6 years, so i don't remember this ever happening (or even trying). but if i do it just right, my car doesn't stall even if i don't press the gas, but let out the clutch. it'll grab and actually go (with RPM's under 1K). of course, if i stop, it'll stall. but i thought that even going slow enough would make it stall. :dunno:

Stall point is 800 rpm on most cars.

Like I said stall point is 800 rpm... your car is staying just above 800 and hence doesn't stall. I only push my clutch in when I can feel my car just starting to stall.

yeah, but i don't have to push it in. if i'm going slow enough, it won't stall, but i have no gas applied. i didn't think it would just hold it in gear like that.

You car will go as long as rpms are over 800. I can let off the gas and not push the clutch in and be in gear and my car won't stall until it reaches just under 800 rpm.

I can do it on my civic, and on the corolla, and the truck.

My dad taught me how to drive a standard using this method... you let out on the clutch slowly until the car starts moving, then use the gas.

yeah, i understand it starting to move. i just didn't think it would actually go without me ever applying gas.
