It's... Alive! Sorta.
My car, which by now many of you may have been beginning to think did not exist, is now fully assembled after a host of misships and other minor woes. The fuel system, source of most of the difficulty, is completed all stainless steel braided and -6 fittings. Side note: finding a 37 degree flaring tool is a major pain in the ass. Thought I'd give you some product lowdowns and then bitch a bit. Aight? First post, lowdown. Second post, bitch.
TWM throttle bodies: Sexy, but big. Takes up what I would term an assload of room in the engine bay, which caused the need for the fuel system overhaul. That pesky fuel filter was in the way. Oh, and the throttle rotor wasn't sized properly for my cable. That's why man invented the Dremel. :goodjob: Hondata manifold gasket: Takes a lot of elbow to seal, and man those washers are useless. They're so soft that there's no feasable way to torque them down enough to seal the gasket. At 20 foot-pounds they squashed flat and curled up at the edges, forming around the nuts and making removal a pain in the ass. The washers are literally translucent now, I'll take some pictures. Of the ones I didn't have to slice up with a knife to remove. If you buy this, throw out the washers or use metal washers of the same size as well, so force is evened out across the plastic. Keep an eye on it for boost leaks on FI apps, and don't be scared to give it a little more elbow. Canton Racing fuel filter: Says it uses OEM fittings. It would, if the thread pitch was right. The product itself is great, but I'd wait for them to iron out the bugs before purchasing one if I were you. AEM programmable engine management system: Fast. Powerful. Versatile. Steep learning curve. Tada-O! www.hosenow.com : I cannot say enough about these guys. Good service. On-hand stock of every fitting you can imagine. Low prices. Cost me $32 for every fitting needed for my fuel system, and that included 2 pieces with some custom work. 9 aluminum fittings total. |
good stuff :)
I guess we know why Hondata stopped shipping the gaskets with those washers, huh? Mine came with some thin red fiber/plastic washers that seem to be working pretty well. |
is that gasket all it's cracked up to be?
|
It keeps the intake manifold cooler, plus it's reusable.
there are other companies making similar gaskets now. They're a bit cheaper, and probably work equally well. |
gaskets
I make those gaskets for almost any 4 cylinder car. My companies name is Next Gear. If you want more info on them let me know.
