Default couple of questions

I know that i am not very active here, but i do appreciate al the help you guys give out, well i need some advice...

1) i have an LS in my del sol, i found someone piecing out their gsr and he offered me the vtec head for $300, i heard that i could slap any b series vtec head on to my LS but the b16 head is żbetter? or does it matter??? i was waiting around for a b16 head should I?

2) also he offered the intake manifold for $50, would that be better than that of the LS?

...geezzzz i feel so dumb right now. i guess we have our days...or for me i guess i am just learnin.

1) You should never "slap" a VTEC head onto a non-VTEC block. That is essentially what early LS-VTEC setups were, and that is why they had so many problems associated with them. That said, $300 is a very good price for a complete P72 head. A B16 P30 might flow slightly better, but it's not that much of a difference. A P30 head will also yield a lower C/R, which may or may not be what you're looking for depending on what you're building.

2) The GSR manifold will not fit your B18B head, and if you end up getting the GSR head, I would ditch the OEM manifold and get a Skunk manifold.

Ls Vtec is a very unreliable motor, NOT for the daily driver....

as with any engine build, it will only be as reliable as well or as poorly as you build it. so if you just slap on the head and call it a day, expect it to take a shit on you.

Wonderful, further propagation of another overexaggerated internet myth.

If you slap a VTEC head on a non-VTEC block and never go beyond the stock redline, the motor will last just as long as before. But only if you keep the stock redline.

As far as which manifold to use the VTEC head with, the GSR manifold will be better than the LS manifold but neither one is ideal.

You will also need a VTEC ECU and some other assorted parts. It also is a very good idea to strengthen the bottom half of the motor to cope with the higher revs that are typical of a VTEC motor.

if he's parting out his GsR try and get the whole swap from him. Things will go smoother that way. Then you can sell off your Ls swap too.
