Default P28 or p72 ecu?

i have a 92 si with a 94 jdm gsr (b18c).im throwing a code 23 , which is my knock sensor. i wanted to know if i could use my old p28 ecu if i chipped it. would i have to change my intake manifold, or would it be better to use the p72 ecu and re-wire my knock sensor. ur help would be much appreciated. thanx

Which ECM are you using now? I assume you're using the P72 now, since you're not having any issues with the secondary intake runners. I would just run the wire for the knock sensor.

If you used the p28, it would not control the secondaries, so you'd need the skunk2 manifold, or the JG manifold. But I'm with Inspyral, just wire the knock sensor.

The knock sensor is on the back of the block, so the intake manifold would probably be in the way if you were looking from the top. Did you get a harness with your swap? If so, look for the knock sensor plug and use it to run wire(s) to the ECM plug.

That's what the knock sensor looks like. The plug is round and looks kinda like a TPS, IACV, MAP sensor plug. Since you'll be extending it to the ECM anyway, it doesn't matter which plug you take off the JDM harness, as long as it fits onto the knock sensor. I'm sure there'll be more than one plug on the JDM harness that'll work. Just snip it off, and ad some wire to it to extend it to your ECM plug. You would need to know the pinouts for your ECM in order to know where to add the wire(s) once you've extended it to the ECM plug.

doi need to take the manifold off to run the wire, like in that pic.
