Car won't start after installing new cams!!!

Today I swapped in some Skunk2 Stage 1 cams and cam gears into my 99 Si. I followed all the directions that I found at c-speedreacing.com. Their instructions do not include taking off the distributor, which is different from what I've read elsewhere. Everything seems correct as far as TDC and all. Since I had to re-check everything like 3 times, the little distributor knob that the intake cam attaches to was turned a few times. Maybe this is the problem, but I don't know. I also did a valve adjustment. The engine just cranks and does not want to turn over at all. Even the cranking sound is different than before. It's a little more high pitched.

Any help or input would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

It just sounds like the timing is way off.. if tdc isnt right it wont even wanna think about kickin over.be sure that the dist. rotation is correct, too.

Yeah, this sounds like a definite timing problem...check it again, and recheck it. BTW you don't need to take off the distributor to install cams.

Yep, it was the crankshaft. I didn't have it lined up at TDC. Once I did that and re-adjusted the valves, the car started up. Now I just have to wait for my VAFC to get here so I can go get everything dyno tuned...:naughty:

Thanks guys!!
