Default Header wrap

are header wraps hype or do they actually work?

ie: http://www.thermotec.com/tt/

they sure cost quite a bit though.

will it increase the velocity in which the exhaust exit the header?

I mean the physic is sound, the hotter things get the hotter its atom moves...

if anything it will keep the heat out of my engine bay...

whats the opinion on this?

They work. They keep the heat in the header/downpipe which keeps exhaust velocity up and under-hood temp down. The downside is that it puts more stress on your header/exhaust pipes which may cause them to fail sooner than they would otherwise.
